Welcome! This is basically the place for Shakespeare fans to talk about the Bard, how great he is, and all of his stuff—plus his life too. Doesn’t matter your age, what language you’re using, or how much experience you’ve got. Whether you’re into the more formal discussion stuff like iambic pentameter, or you just want to point out the more… questionable jokes, there’s room for you. Quick note to anyone doing homework: read the rules first. If you need help, add the right flair, show what you’ve already tried, and stick around to actually join the discussion instead of disappearing after you post. If it doesn’t follow that, they’ll probably delete it. Also, there’s no authorship debate here. If you’re looking for theories about who really wrote the plays, this isn’t the place. And yeah, no low-effort AI posts either—AI can be used, but the post needs real original ideas or personal thoughts, not just pasted answers. Last thing: be respectful. Shakespeare’s good at roasting people, but we’re not doing that here.

Shakespeare completed works or individual paperbacks?

I’m doing an English BA and we cover Shakespeare in my classes, but I also just really love his plays and poems. I’m thinking about getting a hardcover “collected works,” and I’m curious if there’s really any advantage to buying individual paperbacks instead. I’ll probably use paperbacks for school (or borrow them), but if I’m reading at home, am I missing anything by going with one big collection? Also, does anyone have a recommendation for which collected edition to get? The only one I know I don’t like is the Oxford Press one. I know this is kind of a dumb question, but thanks to anyone who answers.
