Who is your favorite Charles Dickens Character?

I’m gonna go with the character who just happens to be in my favorite Dickens book too, *Our Mutual Friend*. The one he calls “the Doll’s Dressmaker” kind of falls into his usual problem—young girls in his writing who act like they’ve lived for like 80 years. But in her case, I can kind of look past it because she’s so sure of herself and stands her ground. And since she plays a big part in bringing down the antagonists, she pretty much locks in my vote as a total, no-bullshit badass. Runner-up is Inspector Bucket from *Bleak House*. I love how Dickens can make you not really know if someone’s good or bad until the story finally runs its course. Bucket’s got that super slimy vibe, but somehow he ends up being a real agent of justice. So, who’s your favorite?
