Public post in the reader discussion for The Hound of the Baskervilles.
Got my first correct guess for the crime while reading The Hound of the Baskervilles. Finally I feel like a true Holmes fan. Any other Sherlock enthusiastic ever felt like that?

I’m a big Sherlock Holmes fan too. I’ve gone through a lot of the stories and 3 of the 4 novels. One of the best things about Conan Doyle is how he makes it seem like you should’ve been able to figure it out from the start just by picking up on the tiny clues Holmes notices. The cases are really tangled, but the solution is usually something simple and “elementary.” Once you get used to that world, you start trying to think like Holmes right away and guess where it’s going, but most of the time I just end up feeling totally lost. But this time I actually got it! I had the right idea about halfway through, and when it got confirmed I honestly felt like a real detective. Does any other Sherlock fan ever get that feeling?
