Favorite book from your culture/country - I want to read books from around the world!

Like the title says, I’m trying to read more books from all over the world. So I’m curious—what’s your favorite book from your country or culture? Fiction or non-fiction is totally fine, I’ll give pretty much anything a shot if it sounds even slightly interesting to me. I’m especially into things like: - romance / love retellings - mythology and cultural stories - history about cultures, people, or places - horror or thrillers - true crime But honestly, I’m open to anything. Also, I’d love to hear what makes you recommend it.
