Books similar to Angel's Egg (1985, dir. Mamoru Oshii)

Hey everyone, this is kind of a niche question. Does anyone know of any books that match the same vibe as Angel’s Egg? Like dark, kind of future/space sci-fi, mostly about ideas and mood more than talking, lots of religious/theological symbolism, and that sort of hazy post-apocalyptic feeling. The tone is really mysterious and kind of sad the whole time. I know it’s hard to pin down, but if you’ve seen the film you know what I mean.
