I read this book like 5 years ago and I’m not totally sure I’m remembering it right. It felt like it was meant for younger teens and it was really short, and I remember the font being different from most books. From what I can recall, it was about a teenage boy who’s part of this group of teen bodyguards, and their job is to protect the daughter of some important guy… but they pretty much act like they’re her friends instead. I think the story was based on a British kid, but I don’t know for sure. I also kind of remember there being some tension or maybe a little “spark” between the main boy and the girl, but again, I’m unsure. I think there were like 3 books in the series, and they were super short, barely over 100 pages each.

What is the best book you've read without dialogue ?

While reading today I suddenly realized I can’t think of a single fiction book I’ve read where none of the characters ever says a word. I’m sure something like that exists, and I might’ve even read one… but I can’t remember. I’m just wondering how it affects the whole vibe when there’s basically no dialogue.

Anyone read the Bodyguard books by Chris Bradford?

It feels like it’s just teens running around being bodyguards for other teens who need to be protected. The whole globe-trotting, going after terrorists vibe reminds me of the James Bond books. I genuinely liked them though. My only gripe was some sexist stuff—there were only two female characters even though there were way more guys, and the damsel-in-distress situation popped up like three times. Also, they do kind of mess with the “kid hero” trope a bit.

Can anyone recommend a good book focusing on bodyguards?

I just wrapped up Queen of the Tearling and I surprisingly loved the bits about the queen’s security—like the whole day-to-day guard/logistics side. Does anyone have recs for books with really tough, super smart bodyguards? Bonus points if it’s set inside a dangerous court where everyone’s out to get someone.

I don’t really care if there’s romance or not, and the POV stuff can go either way (or both). But I do need the man to be totally unable to help in a fight somehow.
