Just finished “Black Like Me.”

This book hit me hard—in a good way. I honestly don’t even remember where I heard about it, but I ended up having to track it down at the library, and it was totally worth it. I feel like, with all the book banning stuff happening, there’s a real worry that parts of our dark history could just get ignored. It also seems like a strong read because the author lays out the racism and segregation side clearly, and doesn’t really tiptoe around it. It’s crazy how people act like this stuff didn’t happen “not that long ago.” My mom was born in the same year the story is set, so it really lands for me. And as a white guy, I try to get a better understanding, so I thought it was a great way to do that. I’m also planning to have my teenage sons read it.
