Can someone help me out with this? My memory is kinda fuzzy, so if anything below is wrong or missing, please let me know. - Misty had three foals, but I think Stormy is the one who ended up being the famous one - Misty’s mom was Phantom - How many books are actually in the whole series? - And were any Breyer sets ever released? I’m just trying to jog my memory from when I read the original book forever ago.

I totally loved these books when I was younger. O:

Book for a 12 year old who wants to be a "real" reader

My niece’s trying to be a “serious reader” and wants to build her own little personal library. Honestly, that’s really impressive to me—she struggled with learning to read for a long time because of learning disabilities. She’s in grade 7 now and usually reads around a grade 5 level, though she can handle a higher-level book if she’s genuinely into it. She tends to like more classic-style stories, not really the popular chapter-book series type stuff (like Babysitters Club). She loved when we did Harry Potter as a read-aloud, and she recently really enjoyed the Penderwicks series and Black Beauty. She’s looking for recommendations that aren’t too “teen” but also not too childish. If anyone has ideas, she might be into fantasy, music, art, or horses.

My 10-year-old is super into horses and other animals, and she absolutely tore through the Misty series. Her parents usually prefer the older/classic kind of books though, so I’m trying to find something a bit more mellow—nothing too wild like the Captain Underpants vibe 🤦‍♀️—but we can probably handle books that push the limit a little.

YAish, i read it in middle school but i believe it was older, boy is getting on a ship when he sees men trying to load a wild black stallion onto the same boat, storm sinks the boat and boy + horse are washed up on an island together and bond before being rescued, goes on to race the horse

That’s about all I remember. I think it was aimed at young adults, but it could’ve been an older book instead—probably pre-1990s at least. If you’ve got any ideas, let me know! (And just to be clear, it’s not Black Beauty.)
