Boy and girl stranded on a deserted island? Sign me tf up! Blue Lagoon: The Awakening meets Lost plus an age gap?? Uncharted by Julie Johnson is AMAZING!

I seriously love Julie Johnson. Like, Bad Luck Charm is one of my all-time favorites (I already ranted about it on my page), so when I wasn’t really feeling anything lately I was like “ok let’s dig through her other stuff” and then bam—this book, Uncharted!! So you’re telling me there’s a survivalist story where “oops we crashed and now we have to not die” and I somehow haven’t read it yet?? I’m obsessed. It totally delivers what it’s selling too. The romance is basically enemies to strangers to friends to lovers? I don’t even know the exact label for their vibe but I was hooked immediately—read the first two chapters and instantly knew I’d be in my feelings. Violet is the main girl and she’s only 17, which I usually avoid, but she was honestly exactly what I wanted to be at that age. And then you’ve got the main guy—30, grumpy, but also super dependable?? And he’s a photographer, which somehow made him extra swoony and gave me all the heart-tugging feels. Also the book has everything: a really engaging plot, great side characters (so it’s not just the two main bitches fighting the whole time), actual depth, and I legit cried at one point and there’s even a plot twist. The only thing that didn’t fully work for me was the occasional foreshadowing at the end of chapters—like that “yeah things were fine, but hindsight is 20/20” type of line. It wasn’t a dealbreaker, it just felt a bit cheesy sometimes. For the thirsty people: I have to be honest… there’s only one sex scene and it’s not mind-blowing. So yeah, if you want a super spicy book, skip this one. Trigger stuff: (1) there is death of a character, and (2) there’s a plot twist you might want to avoid spoilers for—our main guy is married. BUT it’s not cheating, so don’t stress about that part. The ending is kind of open-ish, but I didn’t mind because it’s still a HEA. Anyway, sorry if this is messy—I’m just really into it 😅
