I’ve been working in a used/antiquarian bookstore for almost a year now, and I’ve been trying to find more books like that. I already read and really liked The Overnight by Ramsey Campbell and The Book of the Most Precious Subject by Sara Gran. I’ve also watched the Ninth Gate movie. Does anyone have any other suggestions? I’d really appreciate it.

This short mystery is pretty smart, but also kind of indulgent in a fun way. I really liked the characters—sweet, but they somehow end up having more depth than I expected for something this brief. It feels like it does a lot with not many words. Also, it really seems aimed at people who love books.

I found it pretty interesting and honestly pretty easy to get through—would be a good fit if you’re into books, especially if you like collecting. I’m just surprised I haven’t seen it mentioned here yet. Anyone else already read it? What’d you think?

Hey! I’m trying to track down a book I read, but I honestly don’t know the title or the author. I only remember a bunch of little details. I’m pretty sure it was a mystery (or at least had mystery stuff going on), and I think it was bookstore-related—like the main character either runs a bookstore or works there. The hardcovers were really pretty too. I remember the covers had plain blocks of color near the top and/or bottom (or maybe it was just a simple design), and then there was some kind of picture in the middle that matched what was going on in the story. I had four books, so I’m guessing it was at least a four-book series, but there might’ve been more. I’m not totally sure, but I think it was set in a small town, and there were maybe some family drama/feuds. Hope this helps—if you have questions, ask away and I’ll try to answer fast!
