How were albino slaves treated in the American South?

I keep wondering—could they have gotten out easier, or were they stuck in certain roles? Like did they get punished just for how they looked?

I read *The Marrow of Tradition* in my first year of undergrad, and I’m still really glad I did. It’s such a sharp, perceptive novel—especially considering when it was written. I’m hoping this gets some attention and brings a few more people to it in 2019.

If I accused someone in 1900 of being racist, would they see that as a pejorative term?

Hey, welcome! Before you jump in, make sure you read the community rules—comments that break them usually get taken down. If you’re trying to keep track of this, there’s a RemindMe option since it can take a bit for someone to put together a proper answer. You can also grab the weekly roundup if that helps. And if you want more stuff already posted, the browser extension / Bluesky / Sunday Digest have some good content too. Also, just a heads up: I’m a bot, so this message was sent automatically.
